The word ‘Romp’ is described in the dictionary as “To run around or play in a boisterous way”. Aside from the unintentional poetry of this line it seems a fair description of Madra Lord’s not-always-so-poetic adventures in Cannes. And what does one wear for a ‘romp’, particularly when that romp can include on-deck and on bicycle shenanigans? We would suggest this lovely combination of peony pink jacket over sparkling white, short-sleeved blouse and pleated slacks. The button front jacket is tailored in breezy cotton to taper from a broad, pleated shoulder down to the tiniest fitted waist. ‘Pockets’ punctuate the torso at the breasts and hips and the Peter Pan collar is bow-tied in black below a matching chiffon scarf at the neck. Madra’s pale blonde marcel wave is the latest hairstyle on the continent and her black pumps sport a beaded instep at the opposite ends of both this ensemble and the color spectrum. Our tour doll this year is a tri-colored salute to the French fashion for fun.
