Perhaps there was a more beautiful dress there that night, but I doubt it. And maybe there was in the huge crowd a more beautiful woman there that warm summer evening. But at the ball that night, there was no other beautiful woman in attendance as beautifully dressed as Madra Lord. Nature and artifice combined perfectly in a bias cut confection. The fitted column of dusty pink satin is pleated at the criss-cross bodice into a halter neckline before disappearing altogether in the back into a diamante waterfall cascading from the neckline to a bare, lower back. The lavish skirt of this evening gown is cut and draped into an expanded train. Matching opera length gloves and a mile long white ‘fox’ stole combine with dramatic ‘diamonds’ at the wrist and ears for a look that gets looks, coming and going. Madra’s sleek black marcel wave is the one dark note in this pastel dream that is tethered to the dance floor only by pink satin pumps trimmed in silver.
