“Cherry Smash” is a daring exploration of the three primary colors in fashion, black, white and red.  A narrow, fitted, black wool sheath is covered with a long, full, iridescent white taffeta blouse and belted within an inch of its life.  The structured pleats of the blouse beneath the gold-buckled, self fabric  belt create a sumptuous over-skirt and sparkle next to the cherry red accessories.  A sheer black veil next to ruched red satin creates a close-up ready chapeau to match the red gloves and boutonniere.  Pearl earrings and three-strand pearl necklace finish and refine the look. Of special interest are the shoes and bag.  The shoes, crisp, red ‘leather’ pumps, threaded with red satin ankle straps, contrast with the beautifully structured black ‘leather’ “Kelly” bag, certainly all the necessary ingredients of an outfit for Gene® to look smashing in.
