Great news Gene fans: the Gene Marshall doll will be covered by the W Club in 2007! Details to be announced soon, but let's just say the Club has a lot in store for you! Lone Star Soirée Gene Convention Collection
We recently came back from the first annual Gene Deluxe Convention and wow...What fun we had meeting Gene fans in person at last! Gene Essay Contest
We would like to thank all of you who entered the Gene Essay contest we ran through our first newsletter in September. We received a lot of entries and 12 winners where chosen instead of 10! Each winner received the Gene stand-up mirror and the letter Gene wrote to her parent announcing her return to New York! The first official Gene Marshall doll signing is announced!
We are proud to announce that July 15th, 2006, the first three Essentially Gene basic dolls will be available for sale at a special event to be held at FAO Schwarz New York City!
Mel and Jason will be on hand to sign your purchased dolls from 2PM to 4PM. Those first production dolls will only be available on that day, customers must be present at event to purchase dolls, no invitation is necessary to attend. Come and celebrate the return of your favorite star!

Change is proof of life, without it, we’re fossils. Even dolls are subject to this law, even movie stars. Even movie star dolls. This first collection of the new Gene®, or as we like to call her, Gene® DeLuxe, is a celebration of the good fortune and happenstance that brought two creative men together, to conspire and rethink what has become a classic in American fashion dolls, Gene® Marshall.
Everything has been changed, everything but the basic character of Gene® Marshall herself. She is still our favorite girl and our stand-in for the experiences of movie stardom. It’s one thing to comb your hair in the mirror at bedtime and think it would be exciting to be a movie star. It’s another whole deal to leave that comfy bedroom, get on a train and travel across the country in search of this goal. Most of us aren’t that brave, and our thoughts of stardom go no farther than this prelude to our nightly dreams. But for Gene® Marshall, those nightly dreams become her daily reality, and she gets to actually be who we perhaps, never could. She does this for us, this is her job.
Jason Wu and Mel Odom met and decided it would be fun to re-do and relocate Gene® in an expanded world that includes, along with Hollywood, New York City as a new background and part-time home-base for our girl. “ A little penthouse for the times between pictures.” This first collection is all set in that moment. The year is 1951, and the mood is change, that terrifying, exciting proof of our being alive and fabulous. Join Gene® as she begins to rediscover her original launching pad, New York City, the Big Apple, the forbidden fruit on the Hudson, and learns what fate this city still has in store for her. Or to quote Gene® in that moment, “Who am I, what is my New York face”?
